[Bug 797550] Re: indefinite download tries behind a proxy

The problem is still present.
I'm still stuck on Kubuntu 11.04, because of update problems concerning my work environment. I've updated my system (only patches) with a mobile connection without proxy, but that's not fully conform with the company rules so i would like to avoid that.
I already thought about upgrading to 11.10 or soon to come 12.04 but the amount of data downloaded within such an update is too much for the data contingent of my mobile phone. And my last try within the company network ended up in mess because of the proxy issue.

I'll collect data again and post it here next week.

Title:
  indefinite download tries behind a proxy

Status in “apt” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: apt

  I am using Kubuntu 11.04 behind a http proxy.
  KPackageKit fails without reason, so I tried it with apt-get.
  The result was, that apt-get tries to download packages, but the velocity breaks up and apt-get retries the download. This results in nearly indefinite retries.
  I made a Screenshot with 6491 retries for chromium-browser-l10n.

  It would be nice to get apt-get to more verbosity, but setting the
  option "APT::Periodic::Verbose "9";" does nothing.

  If someone could tell me some more verbosity options i would comment this bugreport with further information.
  As a little hint: "apt-get update" downloads some new information and fails for some other... maybe with the same reason the download of packages fails.

  Thanks for any help in advance!
