Title:
missing entry for autofs in /usr/share/base-files/nsswitch.conf and
/etc/nsswitch.conf
Status in “base-files” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: base-files
I installed autofs5 and couldn't get my automounts to work until I
added an entry for autofs in /etc/nsswitch.conf as shown below:
skluth at lapkluth2:~$ cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
# /etc/nsswitch.conf
#
# Example configuration of GNU Name Service Switch functionality.
# If you have the `glibc-doc-reference' and `info' packages installed, try:
# `info libc "Name Service Switch"' for information about this file.

shadow: compat
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4
networks: files
protocols: db files
services: db files
ethers: db files
rpc: db files
netgroup: nis
automount: files
I use a local autofs configuration so "files" is ok for me. In
general I guess there should be "files nis" or similar. Just autofs
(version 4) worked fine without this additional line to nsswitch.conf.
