[Bug 1018058] [NEW] Initramfs is re-generated several times, wasting time

Public bug reported:

Installed Xubuntu 12.04 x64 desktop.

During the install, the initramfs was re-generated several times, each
taking about 10 seconds (slow hw, E-450). By my count this wasted about
two minutes of install time, needlessly re-generating the initramfs,
when only the last generation should have been done.

--

For some reason, even though the install was successful, the only files
I have under /var/log/installer are media-info and initial-status.gz, so
I can't attach syslog nor partman.

** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
