Bug description:
  I also received the following error after reopening Update Manager
  (presumably due to broken packages, as reported by Synaptic)

  Could not initialize the package information

  An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package
  information.

  Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and
  include the following error message:

  'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be
  caused by held packages.'
