[Bug 214492] Re: no nameserver in resolv.conf after installation

Is this bug still present in 12.04?

The original report was about Ubuntu 8.04 Server (presumably not running
NetworkManager) whereas Moritz's comment #1 was about 8.10 Desktop
running NetworkManager.

Although 12.04 introduced resolvconf to manage /etc/resolv.conf we have
a new report, bug #1013843, of nameserver addresses somehow getting lost
during installation. #1013843 is about an Ubiquity install, thus, with
NM.

Title:
no nameserver in resolv.conf after installation

Status in “netcfg” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: base-installer

After installing a Ubuntu 8.04 Server no DNS resolution had been possible.
  - Configured Server manually, also entered two DNS Servers
  - remote machines could be reached with their IP address
  - resolv.conf had no 'nameserver' entries, only a 'search' entry (this one was correct)

I also could reproduce this with a Ubuntu 7.10 Server installation on
  the same Hardware.
