Title:
The upgrade is now aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state.

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

My upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 end up with following message:

The upgrade is now aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state.
A recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

I’ve rebooted my pc and run “dpkg --configure -a” .
The OS started in terminal mode and I've had to launch the xserver with "startx".
Following the "System => About Ubuntu" the OS has been upgraded to 10.04.
After running apt-get update and apt-get upgrade things got in to the order and I can use the OS without any problems.
  The bug report is attached.
