Long-time Ubuntu masochist here.

Every version of Ubuntu I've ever installed has had this asinine
insistence of hiding everything, making it "quiet" and turning on some
goofy "splash", all of which have never - not once - worked correctly
and have only succeeding in causing very severe problems.

Who are the clowns insisting on "quiet" and "splash" and hiding the important messages at boot?
Who are the clowns demanding graphical anything, and stupid divergence from K.I.S.S. text-only boot?
Who are the clowns causing tectonic shift in needed stability for servers?
And who are the clowns coding to these idiotic demands?

I'd sure like to know these people so I can reach right thru the cat5
and slap some sense into them.

Here's my public vote to default all these jangly crap to OFF, and
return the default settings to dependable, VISIBLE sanity.
