Title:
install did not work, apparently something about not being able to
  install grub2

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The problem was reported at the end of the install process. I
previously tried partitioning with a grubbios (or some name like that)
partition at the beginning, since the disk drive is a 3TB seagate
SATA3 7200rpm unit, but that installation would not boot (though it
appeared to complete the installation process without problems). Note
that this was an attempt to perform a complete fresh install of a
single-boot system on the entire HDD with no other disk drives in the
system. This was an attempted install of the 64-bit ubuntu 12.04 DVD
  ISO.
