The problem seems to be that /etc/passwd was locked, and then system users could not be added:

adduser: »/usr/sbin/useradd -d /var/lib/gdm -g gdm -s /bin/false -u 114 gdm« gab den Fehlercode 1 zurück. Programmende.
dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von gdm (--configure):
 Unterprozess installiertes post-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück

Landscape just happened to be the last package trying, but several
failed because of that problem.

I *think* the lock is just /etc/passwd copied to a backup file, like
/etc/passwd.lock or something like that. I will mark the bug affecting
adduser instead for now.
