[Bug 1030809] [NEW] Update manager crashes on opening (happened after update to 12.04 from 11.10)

Hi,

I just updated to 12.04 from 11.10 and once I restarted I encountered
this bug. Update-manager crashes on opening with the following error
message:

E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/ie.archive.ubuntu
.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package
lists or status file could not be parsed or opened

Any ideas what I can do to resolve this?
