Hi guys -

It looks like you experienced two different bugs.

Doug's report of the update-manager window not appearing, fits bug
989588. Like you say, there isn't a crash, the window just doesn't
show.

Axl did have a crash, and apparently ran into bug 739599.

I'm marking this bug a duplicate of 989588, since I think Doug's report
corresponds to that. Doug, I think you'll agree, but if you think there
are separate issues, you could un-dupe this if you wanted.

Axl, hopefully you're all set for the moment. :)

Thanks.

Title:
Update manager will not open when I click on icon

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Most of the time, when Update Manager has updates to be applied, it
will not open when I click on the icon. I can check for updates by
right clicking on the icon, and I can apply the updates likewise. But
I cannot see the screen that shows me what will be updated before I
apply them. The tiny triangle pointer on the left side of the icon
  appears to be light blue.

I am running 12.04. It was installed from the ISO (not upgraded).
