Public bug reported:

I try to update from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 or from 10.04 to 12.04 but
never succeeded. I used update-manager it failled, I then used the
following command command prompt and try to upgrade again it still
failed,

>sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrad
>sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

All the third party software in source.list are disable, I try off
offline iso alternative cd, yet all failed

>sudo unmount -o loop /home/adebayo/Downloads/ubuntu-10.10-alternate-i386.iso /media/cdrom
>sudo sh /media/cdrom/cdromupgrade

Some o the error messages are:An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

Please help out. Thanks
