Title:
  update-manager crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I am using 12.10 Alpha 2 tried to update/upgrade using apt. updat-notifier and update-notifier-common, latest version availlable is 0.119ubuntu14.
  this version cannot be installed. When I tried to update them they needed to remove ubuntu-desktop package. now I am only running a update-notifier version with a progressbar visible.
  the 'when there are security updates' and ' when there are other updates' options on the updates tab from software sources became grayed out.
  I cannot perfom any apt-get -f install to fix the problems, the respons I get was about broken packages with unmet depencencies: update-notifier and update-notifier-common. they both need ubuntu-desktop which cannot be installd because of a python3-debian package missing. which also has no availlable candidate.

  here is some output which might be usefull.
  I am kind of stuck here. What's the best way to resolve this error?
