Title:
Cannot install ubuntu on free ext4 partition

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I one day had the problem that my system wouldn't launch GRUB (I was dual booting ubuntu windows at this time). Instead, it showed "read error". Since then, I'm trying everything to at least be able to use the computer. I destroyed windows and wanted to use the partition left by it to install a new ubuntu 12.04, nearer to the BIOS, so that grub could maybe finally be launched... (as my attemps to repair the old grub on the old ubuntu (which is at the extreme end of the disk) failed).
  My sytem is 64 bits
  Thanks for your help!
