Have you edited your bash-completion scripts at all?

  bash-completion keep failing complaining about some missing ":" when I

Status in “bash-completion” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: bash-completion

  if I press TAB it should complete the command, like in "sudo
  apt-g<TAB> autore<TAB> --pur<TAB> something<TAB>" it should assit me
  to get "sudo apt-get autoremove --purge something-installed" but
  instead it has been complaining about missing : somewhere and I loose
  everything I have type... not sure where to look for (database, conf
  files, even log files) to try to fix or send you guys... I can try to
  locate those or even post them If someone helps me
