I'm pretty sure if it is the same issue I had with this machine in
precise it has to do with the driver for the webcam not initialising
correctly and hogging all the cpu and filling the memory till eventually
the kernel panics or something along those lines. I know it got
resolved in the last beta and works flawlessly in precise now.

Title:
Ubiquity locks up on the webcam page
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
New
Status in “ubiquity” source package in Quantal:
New
Bug description:
Running through the install on an HP G62 Laptop the screen locks up on
the webcam page.
This could be an issue with either linux drivers or the ubiquity
implementation.
Steps to reproduce:
1. On an hp g62 laptop
2. Grab the lastest working iso from /current/
3. run the install
4. On the webcam page for your login image it locks up
I don't get the kernel panic flashing lights like I did in precise in
earlier versions but I think the issue is fairly similar.
