The following makes it fairly clear the issue is with lilo.  While I
can't say if perhaps lilo should be smarter here and figure out how to
DTRT, or if this bug is inavlid and you just need to fix your config
file, I can't say, but it's not an initramfs-tools bug.

  I should think that this is connected with my use of lilo. I have yet
  to have a 12.04 upgrade work. mountall f*s up always.
