If I then click "Updates available", update manager says "The software
on this computer is up to date."

Title:
dist-upgrade did not update the menu

Status in “aptdaemon” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I don't know if this is the right package, but I just ran "sudo apt-
get dist-upgrade" from a terminal, and it fetched a new kernel. I was
expecting the system menu (the menu in the top right corner) to say
"reboot to finish upgrades" or similar, but instead it just says
  "updates available".
