Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  While opening the update manager in Ubuntu 11.10 I get the following
  message:

  E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
  MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/mx.archive.ubuntu
  .com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-updates_main_i18n_Translation-en, E:The
  package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

  While opening Synaptic manager I also get this message:

  E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
  E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/mx.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric-updates_main_i18n_Translation-en
  E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
  E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
