Title:
not all updates can be installed

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

It seems that if update-manger should remove packages to install some updates it says
"not all updates can be installed

run a partial upgrade, to install as many updates as possibile
  ...
  ...
  ..

  Partial Upgrade - Close"

In fact last days I had to install some updates but double-clicking
update-manager icon I always had the message above. So I ran Synaptic,
marked all updates, and then applied all of them: at the summary I
could read that synaptic had to remove a package (libclamav3) to
install a new upgraded version (libclamav5). So I think the problem is
just that update-manager cannot remove packages.
