Title:
Grub2 defaults with boot option of 'vt.handoff=7' in
  /boot/grub/grub.cfg with server 11.10.

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
As this is a server install and does not install X11 it just "seems"
to hang after boot with a blinking cursor in the topleft corner. It
was easily fixed by changing 'vt.handoff=7' to 'vt.handoff=1'.

However, I would of expected some form of logic in the generation of
the grub.cfg rather than just a hardcoded vt=7.

  Ubuntu 11.10 server
  Grub2 1.99-12ubuntu5
