Public bug reported:
Initial install worked for a few months. Updated first week of January
from update manager. Video settings changed to only allow up to 1024 X
768 resolution. removed drivers from additional drivers screen,
rebooted and reinstalled. Resolution changed to maximum 640 X 480. Tried
a few more more updates. No luck.
Backed up data. Did a fresh install. Could not get into a graphics
screen (command prompt screen only ). Tried recovery mode (hold shift
key) but got command prompt and no when using sudo lightdm.
Used live CD to go to recovery mode. No luck on screen either. Tried
live CD (try before install), and couldn't find anything obvious (not
sure what to look for anyway).
Did a new fresh install and ended up with this situation. I am now in
the continue testing mode and the message 'continue testing' or 'restart
now' stays on the screen even after clicking on 'continue testing' .
Your assistance is appreciated.
