I had the same error. Thanks to Damion in post #4
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-
creator/+bug/777957/comments/4) I could create a successful disk after
running the command as superuser/root.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: usb-creator

  I have tried with multiple iso files (11.04 and 10.10) and this
  happens every time I try to create a USB startup disk. The prcoess
  gets to 99% and then ends with "An uncaught exception was raised:
  [Errno 2] No such file or directory.  The pop up box only gives me the
  option to Quit.
