  update-manager crashed with SystemError in requiredDownload()

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  when partial distro upgrade is being done, it crashes. It maybe
  related to recent grub-pc install error I reported. Due to grub-pc
  error, kernel upgrade is also giving errors since yesterday.
