Public bug reported:

Since more user use ppa they land for support when ppa interferes during dist-upgrade.
Update manager isn't very helpful with general messages.
In this question,
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+question/183642

update-manager says:
A problem occurred during the update.
This is usually some sort of network problem, please check your network connection and retry.

Expected:
## Ok with the entry ... problem occured ...
Please verify your network connection, in case rather connect to LAN.
Please disable ppa <alternatively third party sources> in software-sources <advise specific options how to achieve this>

In an ideal world update-manager would have investigated what exactly
went wrong and advises the specific workaround to the issue.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
