Title:
gparted doesn't report corrupted partition error properly

Status in “gparted” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gparted

gparted doesn't report this particular error (although parted reports
  it):

The error was something like 'partition cannot be past the end of the
disk'. The partition table was corrupted (the story of how is amusing
  - someone ran Vista off a dual-boot Ubuntu/Vista machine and plugged
in an external drive; Vista asked would they like it to manage the
disk 'dynamically', and then trashed the main disk partition table,
deleting itself but not Ubuntu in the process - maybe bug #1 will be
  fixed soon after all!).

gparted simply reported the disk as being unallocated. (I didn't try
to add/remove partitions in case it did bad things to the disk -
instead, I used fdisk to fix it.)

I think gparted should report this particular error (and any other
error that stops parted from working properly).

  Version info:

  Ubuntu 8.04 (amd64) with kernel 2.6.24-17-generic
  gparted 0.3.5-1ubuntu3
  parted 1.7.1-5.1ubuntu9
