What is in postinst seems correct, so I do not understand why update-
rc.d complains. Running the postinst snippet on its own:

$ sudo update-rc.d unattended-upgrades start 10 0 6 .
update-rc.d: warning: unattended-upgrades start runlevel arguments (none) do not match LSB Default-Start values (0 6)
update-rc.d: warning: unattended-upgrades stop runlevel arguments (0 6) do not match LSB Default-Stop values (none)
 System start/stop links for /etc/init.d/unattended-upgrades already exist.

   runlevel arguments do not match LSB values
