Title:
  malformed nfs v4 compound packets

Status in “nfs-utils” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
  Release: 10.04

  apt-cache policy nfs-kernel-server
  nfs-kernel-server:
    Installed: 1:1.2.0-4ubuntu4.2
    Candidate: 1:1.2.0-4ubuntu4.2

We have a nfs v4 share which is mounted on multiple solaris 10
clients. Sometimes one of the nfs clients can't open a file on the nfs
share with the following error message:

  cat /m/local/tmp/nagios_check_nfs.chk
NFS compound failed for server dbnfs: error 2 (RPC: Can't decode result)
  cat: cannot open /m/local/tmp/nagios_check_nfs.chk

After waiting some hours or remounting the nfs share it works again.
The other clients can access the file without problems. I have
attached a tcpdump of the network traffic: the ubuntu server is
sending a malformed nfs compound package to the client according to
  wireshark.
