I am closing this since it sounds like you chose the advanced
partitioning option and didn't allocate a / partition.

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When I install UBUNTU V.11.10 when finished installed system reboot
  after that the screen came out in red collor it said:

  no root file system is defined . Please correct this from the
  partitioning menu.
