It says it can not open display ":1".  Normally there is only one
display ":0".  What is the value of your DISPLAY environment variable
and do you have a second X server running?

  Starting gparted with "gparted-pkexec" fails with
  "No protocol specified
  (gpartedbin:4076): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :1"

  This means gparted cannot be started from the unity dash.

  Starting with "gksudo gparted" works fine.
