Title:
  Resize dirty NTFS silently fails

Status in “partman-partitioning” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
During a netboot installation of current dapper, I attempted to resize
an NTFS partition which turned out to be dirty (not unmounted
properly.) Partman silently failed on this, and no useful messages
appeared in the log, so far as I could tell. I eventually discovered
this by trying to use ntfsresize from the console which clearly
indicated this. After booting into Windows and cleanly shutting down,
it proceeded correctly, though without any indication in the installer
of any progress during the operation (the log console showed it
  however.)
