[Bug 937679] [NEW] subversion can't checkout, rejected basic challenge

Public bug reported:

First read:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subversion/+bug/473139

Then I renamed the .gnome2/keyrings folder. (just temporary to test if
this works from there onwards) Like someone here suggested:
http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=177482

The checkout from a https subversion repository still fails.

- Subversion ignores the --username and --pasword parameters. (It prompts again for the password of the https realm even if the login credentials were provided.)
- It seems to rely on Gnome Keyring although it shouldn't (in my opinion)
- Since the client itself is broken all GUI tools i tried also don't work.

In short: Subversion is not functional at all for a https repository. I
suppose this hasn't been fixed ever since 2009. And since nobody cares
about bugs from 2009 - this is 2012.

** Affects: subversion (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
