Oh, of course; the stop/pre-start message is precisely because the '|| {
stop; exit 0; }' is being called, and this is the output of the stop
command.  So somehow, the job is failing to properly handle the
NEED_IDMAPD setting in /etc/default/nfs-common.  Could you attach this
file as well?

Bug description:
  The following lines in /etc/fstab are missing:

  rpc_pipefs      /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs rpc_pipefs      defaults        0       0
  nfsd    /proc/fs/nfsd   nfsd    defaults        0       0

  so rpc.idmapd refuses to start with this log:

  rpc.idmapd -v -f
  rpc.idmapd: libnfsidmap: using domain: blubberblase

  rpc.idmapd: libnfsidmap: loaded plugin
  /usr/lib/libnfsidmap/nsswitch.so for method nsswitch

  rpc.idmapd: Expiration time is 600 seconds.
  rpc.idmapd: nfsdopenone: Opening /proc/net/rpc/nfs4.nametoid/channel failed: errno 2 (No such file or directory)
  rpc.idmapd: main: open(/var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs/nfs): No such file or directory
