Ok, that looks reasonable. Is there any chance that you accidentally ran
this 'exec' command on the commandline while you were preparing this? If
you try to start the job now, do you get more meaningful output in
/var/log/idmapd.conf?

Title:
  rpc.idmapd refuses to start

Status in “nfs-utils” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The following lines in /etc/fstab are missing:

  rpc_pipefs /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs rpc_pipefs defaults 0 0
  nfsd /proc/fs/nfsd nfsd defaults 0 0

so rpc.idmapd refuses to start with this log:

  rpc.idmapd -v -f
  rpc.idmapd: libnfsidmap: using domain: blubberblase

  rpc.idmapd: libnfsidmap: loaded plugin
  /usr/lib/libnfsidmap/nsswitch.so for method nsswitch

rpc.idmapd: Expiration time is 600 seconds.
rpc.idmapd: nfsdopenone: Opening /proc/net/rpc/nfs4.nametoid/channel failed: errno 2 (No such file or directory)
rpc.idmapd: main: open(/var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs/nfs): No such file or directory
