I'm afraid it looks like it was right. The syslog has this kind of

... which is a clear sign of a lower-level problem. It may not be heat;
perhaps the hard drive is dying. At any rate, the installer couldn't do
any more than notifying you of the problem, and this isn't an installer
bug.
