Thanks for following up with this. Samba seems to be running fine (I
use it to connect windows XP running in vmplayer with a directory on
the host machine running ubuntu.

Sorry. Not a whole lot of info to provide. A dialog came up during
the upgrade stating that the samba upgrade failed and asked if I
wanted to report the bug.
