Title:
Can't install ubuntu 11.10 on thinkpad with ssd

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Since 10.10 (the last version I could install) i haven't been able to get ubuntu working on my laptop whenever I put in an ssd. 11.04 and 11.10 do not work. I always get the same message: grub-install /dev/hda failed
This time around I tried giving the system a separate /boot partition in the hopes that it would smooth things out. It didn't.

  My system is a Thinkpad t520 with a 64GB Kingston SSDNow+
