Hi!
First thing - SSD drive of my notebook is dead. My responses may have very poor latency.

As far as I remember, .xsession-errors were totally clean.
Because dbus-daemon does not say anything as it quits when it thinks that the session is over
and Segfault is a violent end for all affected applications.. no time to say a goodbye to any log. They are gone, instantly.

If you are sure you want me to produce that file, please indicate so. And I'll hopefully get to it eventually.
I'll have to remove the workaround applied to dbus-daemon (in a shellscript, not hard), start something that joins dbus session bus and wait.

** Changed in: dbus (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New

** Summary changed:

- libdbus segfaults on sessionbus termination violently killing dbus-avare apps
+ libdbus segfaults on sessionbus termination violently killing dbus-aware apps

Title:
libdbus segfaults on sessionbus termination violently killing dbus-
  aware apps

Status in “dbus” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This happens on ubuntu natty (not sure about maverick), when you replace the default login manager with SLiM, who does not care about sessions too much
The dbus session daemon is run with --exit-with-session parameter, which means it runs, runs.. and then, without any reason is gone.
That might be okay.. but how does libdbus respond to missing sessionbus daemon? It segfaults. And that's sure wrong.
Even if the app is not actively using the bus.. initializing libdbus is enough... for violent death.

Sure, the reason why dbus quits should be fixed too.. but this bug
is for the libdbus segfault only.

Even firefox uses DBus today. So, suddenly, without any warning all my
apps are gone. Except for a VoIP tray icon.
