I too have seen this bug without the "foreign architecture" situation. I
don't believe it is a duplicate of 850264.

  Installer crashed far into the install.  Virtualbox install with 2048
  ram, 10gb vdi disk, opted to install updates during installation and
  3rd party software, erase and use entire disk.
