Bug description:
  when i tried to upgrade ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10, it crashed and i got an error message from update manager saying "E:Unable to parse package file /var/lib/apt/lists/nl3.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en (1), E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'"
  This also affects synaptic package manager which also crashes.
  Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal - released in April 2011
