Thanks Colin. From my own observations this only happens with hardware
that supports 3D. In fact with my old C7 VIA with P4M800 I don't seem to
be able to install at all w/o using the alternate image.
I'm sorry I didn't report this sooner (or more appropriately) but I
honestly thought it was intentional until I'd posted the results at the
forums.
But we can't release an image with a totally inappropriate
representation of it's DE.

Bug description:
I'm iso-testing the Lubuntu 20120201.2 i386 live image and it boots
into a Unity-like DE. I doubt this is truly a casper bug but I'm
stymied on what package to assign this to.
Also even after installation, if successful, it boots into a Unity-
like DE. So I know it's not truly a casper bug but I don't seem to be
able to file against the lubuntu meta-package.
Sorry to be inept, but I want to be sure this is at the very least
addressed in the release notes.
