This would also make rm ** deletes all files recursively, and I guess
most users would not like finding that out the hard way ;)

Title:
  enable globstar by default

Status in “bash” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: bash

Please turn on globstar, like is currently done for extglob (at least for interactive shells, extglob is set in /etc/bash_completion).
This makes ** work recursively so you can do stuff like grep foo **/*.py
