As yet another person affected with this bug, I would like to add that
the '--noudevsync workaround' does not really remove the timeout, it
drastically decreases it. On my system (Acer 4820TG) the timeout of
16..25 seconds still exists (although not the original 80 seconds I've
seen with 3.0.0-14/15).

Bug description:
  The system is now unable to boot.
  I had to boot on previous kernel 3.0.0.
  Symptoms are boot freezes. When debugging, issuing a vgscan works ok.
  doing the vgchange -a y just hangs. I need to reboot the system afterwards.
