Still true on Precise. Please fix this!

Incidentally, the workaround is Ctrl-\ which does a rather more
forcible terminate.

Title:
  apt-add-repository doesn't recognize CTRL+C during fetching

Status in “software-properties” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 10.10, apt 0.8.3ubuntu7

When trying to add a repository behind a proxy without the correct
proxy settings or other network problems, apt-add-repository will
stall and is unresponsive, especially to CTRL+C to cancel the current
operation - which it should and cancel, like all the other well-
  behaving bash programs.
