Title:
update manager forces you to restart

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Currently after installing some kernel updates, update manager lets you know that you need to restart by:
  1. indicator-session power-cog turns red (and when opening, strangely Online Accounts is red .... #1077015)
  2. Adds a restart required indicator (I guess this is coming from update-notifier)
  3. Displays a non-closeable dialog with only a Restart button

I did like the previous way of turning the power-cod red and
displaying the "Restart required" item (now as the Restart has been
added to the indicator-session, simply restart should be shown in red)

However the dialog seems overly unobtrusive, as I (as a user) have three possible actions:
  a. ignore the dialog - this will result in hiding some detail of the application I am running, let's say this is out of the question
  b. click restart - maybe if i choose a. until I close all my applications and save everything, this would be OK, but if I click away from the dialog, I anyway have to click it again, thus I could also click the indicator-session to restart or the restart required indicator from update-notifier
  c. minimize the dialog: not very useful, as after maximizing it again, I have to make the same decision again, and if I don't want to choose c again, I have to either choose a or b, but both of them have already been discussed: if I choose to maximize update-manager again and click restart after, I did the same number of clicks as I would have done with any of the two other methods available to restart the computer, only that I had to do a bit more mouse motion (go to launcher, click update-manager, go to the window - probably centered - and click the restart button)

Another problem is that I might want to shut down instead of restart
(I want to start my updated PC only tomorrow in the morning), but I
  can't really do that.

  So I suggest:
  1. either make the update-manager restart required dialog closeable
  2. or add a restart later button

I think that the updates requiring a restart only take effect after a
restart, but that does not mean that I should be forced to restart
now, if I accept the consequences that some software might not be
working in it's fully updated status.
