Unless I'm thinking of a different interface the Ubuntu GTK installer
does show the timezone drop down, with the correct zone selected.

  the kubuntu daily build detects the Sydney timezone(correctly) and
  gives info for it but says Adelaide. i have included a screencap of
  the bug.
