Ok, major change. I connected to the remote network directly by going
onsite (no vpn), and name resolution still does not work. I re-enabled
the local forwarding nameserver and re-ran 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure
resolvconf', but DNS resolution still fails.
However, DNS resolution using 'host' works, while all other resolution
does not (ssh, browser-based, etc). I am able to lookup IP addresses
with host and ping them to verify that they are present.
Ideas? Why would the host utility work, while all other services which
do DNS resolution fail?
