[Bug 934469] [NEW] Virtual terminals resets Bash history to last 500 entries even when it is set to more entries

Whenever I log in to a virtual terminal it somehow forces $HISTSIZE and
$HISTFILESIZE to 500 even though I've set them in ~/.bashrc to 10000 and
100000, respectively. This means that a whole lot of the history is lost
immediately after logging it on a virtual terminal.
