This occurs when you boot directly into the installer, instead of
loading the ubuntu desktop, then clicking 'install now' to load the
installer.

Bug description:
  The installer for the Ubuntu daily doesn't appear after the loading
  screen, it just stays on the black screen resulting from bug 1080437
  and the top bar.
