I just tested the 2012-08-27 daily iso and it works fine. I'll go ahead
and close this as fixed.

Bug description:
  I'm testing the desktop-amd64 daily iso from 2012-08-22.

  I've attempted to boot this on 3 machines with both Intel and AMD
  graphics. On all machines I get to the Ubuntu splash screen with the
  colored dots followed by a blank screen. The welcome screen does not
  display. If I interrupt boot using F6 and select the "Try Ubuntu ..."
  option I can get to the live desktop just fine.

  From some light debugging I did it looks like when lightdm tries to
  start X, X exits with the following:

  [    16.385] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
  [    16.385] 
  Fatal server error:
  [    16.385] no screens found

  There seems to be another X process already running, so perhaps this
  is related.

  I'm attaching a full set of logs (from /var/log) for a failed boot.
